After spending over a decade as the creative director at Givenchy it's time for Riccardo Tisci to embark on a new journey and he is putting his best foot forward and stepping English soil to take creative control at Burberry.
Last year Tisci announced that he will be stepping down from his position at Givenchy and today we bring you the news that he will be taking over as Chief Creative Officer in less than two weeks time bringing him oversees to London to bring his first Burberry collection to us in september.
Burberry's CEO Marco Gobbetti spoke out saying "Riccardo is one of the most talented designers of our time. His designs have an elegance that is contemporary and his skill in blending streetwear with high fashion is highly relevant to today's luxury consumer. Riccardo's creative vision will reinforce the ambitions we have for Burberry and position the brand firmly in luxury"
Tisci left Italy to become a CSM graduate in 1999 and went on to debut his first collection for AW05 which captivated the attention of fashion world and lead to his appointment as the Creative Director at Givenchy realising garments that ooze modern felinity and elegance as was as contemporary designs that keep up with changing times. He brought the brand huge success in the Haute Couture world and we sit anticipating what he will bring to Burberry, a brand know for it's traditional British look, how will this high fashion Italian cope with the change and what will we see? Can we expect I hint of Italy and France to migrate over with him, with Burberry being known for their iconic trench coats it's intriguing to see if he will keep everything traditionally British or add a Haute Couture / High Fashion feel to the brand.
“I am delighted that Riccardo is joining Burberry as chief creative officer. Riccardo is one of the most talented designers of our time. His designs have an elegance that is contemporary and his skill in blending streetwear with high fashion is highly relevant to today’s luxury consumer. Riccardo’s creative vision will reinforce the ambitions we have for Burberry and position the brand firmly in luxury.” Marco Gobbetti continued, he has faith in his abilities and so do we so good luck to you.
