A Cold Wall*

When it was time to put pen to paper Samuel Ross’s mind was awakened by the thought of a construction site, leading him to a collection that came from the idea of rebuilding the designs of work wear and construction shapes.

Putting their best foot forward in silver wellingtons models walked down a catwalk that Ross had designed with the help of artist Anthony Caro, where he laid out construction beams along the runway to bring in the inspiration of the collection to life.

This season Ross played around with digitally printed fabrics and overly exaggerated pockets. The garments were more technical and intricate experimenting with the treatment of hand threaded wools and thermo reactive nylons.

Not only did Caro help with the set design but he looked at the materials that was used by Caro and the context of how he displayed his work. His hand dyed bull denim and rubberised nylon clothing gave a fresh taken on the streetwear collection.

Ross should be inspiration to all budding designers going from a being a graphic designer to showcasing at 180.

His talent was seen by Off White Founder and new Louis Vitton Menswear Creative Director Virgil Abloh, who acted as a mentor to him offering advice and guidance. Streetwear was something that stayed on the streets but we’re thankful that it has finally made its way onto the catwalk teaching us that we should always make the jump to chase our dreams.
